On the 7th of December
2020, the Commission for Academic Accreditation (CAA) and the Accreditation
Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE) in the USA have signed a renewed
agreement that allow more collaborative practices in the quality assurance and
enhancement of Pharmacy programs offered in the UAE. The agreement aims to
streamline the quality assurance and pharmacy programs review processes within
the UAE through the engagement in Joint CAA Accreditation – ACPE Certification
visits. These joint review visits will improve the agility of the CAA’s
operations and increase its efficiency and effectiveness in addition to
reducing burden of multiple accreditation visits on institutions and increasing
the visibility of the UAE Pharmacy programs. The joint review process has been
piloted and a series of joint reviews have been confirmed, commencing Fall
2021.
The agreement
also increases the range of expertise and allows sharing of resources and information
regarding best practices.
